eduWeavers
By building partnerships with schools and families in the US and other developed nations, communities like eSibonisweni can grow, and our opportunities to learn and share information with them will increase.
Saint Mark's efforts in Maputaland show just how much can be accomplished when starting out with a few small goals and the commitment of well-intentioned people. Saint Mark's also determined to make this initiative a learning experience for all the students involved. It was not something that the parents would be asked to do. Rather, teachers and students worked together to make the ambition a reality. Over time, this ambition gave way to ingenuity, and intrigue gave way to a deep commitment among students, teachers, and the administration alike. The Upper Division (grades 7 and 8) took on the initial efforts to raise money and initiate various types of collections. In the first year Saint Mark's sent clothing, books, shoes, educational toys and educational materials, sporting equipment, and letters with illustrations to Maputaland. Finding the appropriate community to partner is more easily achieved when there is an ongoing personal contact, Jennifer Getz has undertaken to assist in pairing up American Schools and South African schools during her annual visits.
eduWeavers goal is to assist other communities to make the connection that St. Mark's has made with the eSibonisweni community. To begin your own partnership, please contact Jennifer Getz directly.
